Lebanon First UMC continued its long tradition of community involvement in the summer of 2011, including outreach to McKendree University students.

Every year, McKendree University hosts an Involvement Fair to introduce students to on-campus and community activities. On August 31, Reverend Wehrly and Aubrey Pieper from Lebanon First were present at the fair. They witnessed to students and staff and distributed brochures about the church which encouraged the students to consider Lebanon First "your church home when you are away from home." They also discussed different ministry opportunities, including the Haven for grade school students, held at the church on Thursday afternoons.

In early August, the Lebanon Kids Summer Program wrapped up their activities with a dinner in the Lebanon First UMC Fellowship Hall. Several member of the church were very involved with the program, including Conrad Steinhoff, who made a special presentation to Rev. Wehrly on behalf of Lebanon Kids. The signed photograph of all the young people involved in the program is on display in Fellowship Hall.

In mid- July, the City of Lebanon holds its annual Fireman’s Parade - the Lebanon Emerald Mound Fire Protection District's annual picnic and parade. Under the leadership of Amy Blasdel and with the help of Mike Bennett and Joe Zimmerlee, the church participated in the parade both evenings. Rev. Peter Wehrly and spouse Susan Meister agreed to ride on the float, and several other church members helped distribute candy, brochures, and cups with the church logo.
