2011 Advent Season underway at Lebanon First UMC

Advent is the four week period in the church calendar that prepares for the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child. Scripture, song and preaching anticipate the great feast of Christmas on December 25.

At Lebanon First UMC, the 2011 Advent Season is underway. Prior to both worship services, members of the congregation will lead a short liturgy and light candles on the Advent Wreath. The Praise Team and Chancel Choir will present Advent music. On Sunday, November 27, both services included the familiar hymn by Charles Wesley, Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.

During the season of Advent, Christmas and the first Sunday of 2012, Rev. Peter Wehrly will preach a series on The Characters of Christmas, including reflections about Mary, Joseph, the Innkeeper, the Shepherds and the Wise Men, and how their experiences relate to us today.
